50-year-old woman held with 308 gm heroin

Ludhiana, July 6

The special task force (STF) has arrested a 50-year-old woman and recovered 308 gram heroin from her possession. The accused has been identified as Surinder Kaur of Mohalla Satguru Nagar, Daba area in Ludhiana.

Snehdeep Sharma, AIG STF Ludhiana-Ferozepur Range, said a police team led by ASI Rampal, had installed a check post at Daba on Friday from where the accused was arrested.

Harbans Singh, in-charge, STF Ludhiana unit, said the woman, who was walking towards the check post near a famous liquor vend, started walking towards the other side after seeing the check post. A woman police constable stopped her for inspection and found 308 gram heroin.

A case under Sections 22-61-85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused at the Daba police station.

Harbans Singh said: “The woman told that she was involved in drug peddling for the past 4 years. The case is being investigated.”
