Two died while four including two children sustained injuries in road mishap after the head on collision between two cars on Gill road on Sunday morning. After the collision, one Honda City car and a commercial vehicle (chota hathi) also rammed into the cars, however, its occupants had a miraculous escape.

Four injured also include two children, and they were undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Kamaljit Singh and his friend Kulwinder Singh, 26, while others namely Gurmukh Singh 30, Swaran Singh 28, Kulwinder’s son Jashandeep Singh 11, and one Kuldeep Kaur 13 sustained injuries. They all were travelling in Zen car. Condition of injured Gurmukh was said to be critical.

While a Khanna based couple travelling in Creta car had sustained minor injuries in the mishap.

The Daba police had reached the spot and started the investigation.

As per the available information, Kulwinder Singh a resident of Galib Kalan village in Jagraon along with his son Jashandeep had plans to attend marriage at Sangowal village here. However at the eleventh hour, his neighbour Kamaljit, Gurmukh, Swaran and Kuldeep Kaur also expressed willingness to accompany them attend marriage and Kulwinder agreed.

The moment their Zen car reached Gill road, Kamaljit who was driving the car lost control over the car which collided head on with the Creta car.

When Zen car collided with Creta car, both cars badly damaged in the mishap, however, the safety balloons of the Creta cars saved the lives of couple who were on the way to meet doctor, police said.

Due to the accident, Gill road traffic came to a standstill which also caused long queue of vehicle son the road.

Investigating officer Jasbir Singh said that Kamaljit had died on the spot while Kulwinder succumbed to the injuries at hospital adding that further probe was on in the case.
