Ludhiana, February 11

The police have booked two persons for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl of Ludhiana.

The accused have been identified as Sahib and Baba, both residents of Amritsar. Both of them are at large and the police are on the lookout for them.

According to the police, the incident took place in Amritsar around a week ago. In her statement, the victim girl said she became friends with a youth of Delhi some time ago and left home on February 3 to meet him. “I left home to visit Delhi, but I boarded the wrong train and reached Ferozepur. From there, I boarded a bus and reached Amritsar the next day. I was outside Amritsar bus stand and I enquired about the railway station from a tempo driver, so that I could go to Delhi, but he told me that there was no train for Delhi at that time and offered me to come to his home,” she said.

The victim said the tempo driver introduced himself as Sahib and when she accepted his offer, instead of taking her to his home, he took her to a hotel. She said Sahib and another man named Baba forcibly raped her in the hotel room.

She said she returned to Ludhiana the next day and narrated the incident to her family. The family members then took her to the police station to lodge a complaint.

Investigating Officer Sub-Inspector Shamsher Singh said the police have registered a case under Section 376 of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against Sahib and Baba and efforts were on to trace them.
