Ludhiana: A 13-year-old girl went missing under mysterious conditions. Pushpa Devi, a resident of Ambedkar colony, informed the police that on August 13, her daughter Shagun had gone to Janakpuri but did not return. She suspected that her daughter could have been kept under illegal confinement by some unknown persons. The police have launched a manhunt.

Couple looted at gunpoint

Four armed youth allegedly looted a couple of cash and gold ornaments at gunpoint at Chatar Singh Park in the wee hours on Monday. The incident happened on August 13 at 1 am. Complainant Jasvir Singh, a resident of Model Town, told police that he was heading to the bus stand to drop his wife. The moment they reached a bridge at the Chatar Singh Park, four youths in a Scorpio vehicle stopped them on the way. He said one of the occupants forcibly snatched his purse, gold ornaments of his wife, Rs 10,000 cash and their mobile phones. The police have registered a case against unknown persons.

Activa robbed

Two bike-borne armed men looted Activa scooter, Rs 22,000 in cash, and a mobile phone from Ram Nagar colony, Lohara. Complainant Gurdeep Singh, a resident of Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Nagar, told the police that on Sunday night, he was heading home from factory on his scooter. When he reached Lohara, he was cornered by two bike-borne armed men, who snatched his scooter, cash and his mobile phone. After registering a case, the police have launched a manhunt.

Man, kin booked for kidnapping

The Tibba police booked a man, his sister and mother on the charges of kidnapping a 15-year-old girl. Complainant Jaspal Kumar, a resident of New Subash Nagar, informed the police that on August 10, her 15-year-old daughter, Bhavna, was kidnapped by accused Davinder Singh, a resident of New Shakti Nagar, on the pretext of marrying her daughter. Davinder's mother and sister connived with him in kidnapping the minor girl. Investigation officer ASI Major Singh said efforts were on to trace the girl. TNS
