13 night shelters for the homeless in city

LUDHIANA: For the welfare of homeless, the Municipal Corporation has constructed 13 night shelters across the city.

For the welfare of homeless, the Municipal Corporation has constructed 13 night shelters across the city. Of these 13 night shelters, four are permanent while nine are temporary. Buses have also been arranged to make sure that the homeless people use the night shelters.

While providing further information, MC Commissioner Kamal Preet Kaur Brar, said the nodal officers have also been appointed for these night shelters. She said in the MC zone A, night shelter has been prepared near Clock Tower (near Lakkar Bridge), opposite Master Tara Singh College near Mata Rani Chowk and on old Jail Road near Civil Hospital and SDO Jagan Nath (mobile number 8837538487) has been appointed as the nodal officer.

Similarly, in the MC Zone B, night shelters have been prepared in Moti Nagar near Ghora Colony Road, near Vishwanath Mandir on Metro Road in Jamalpur, in sub Zone B near Suvidha Kendra in Sherpur Kalan and SDO Arvind Kumar (mobile number 9780097201) has been appointed as the nodal officer.

In MC Zone C, night shelters have been prepared in old fire brigade building, opposite Manju Cinema in Miller Ganj, in Gill Chowk near Park, at Basant Park and SDO Kulwinder Singh (mobile number 9888897201) has been appointed the nodal officer.

Brar informed in MC Zone D, night shelters have been prepared in Dairy Complex near Fire Brigade Building on Hambran Road, near Bus Stand under the Rail Over Bridge, at Krishna Mandir Park near Ishmeet Singh Road and near Durga Mata Mandir and SDO Sanjeev Sharma (mobile number 9780039448) has been appointed the Nodal Officer.

The MC Commissioner has appealed to the city residents that in case they come across any homeless people, then they should urge them to use the night shelters.

  • In the MC zone A, the night shelter has been prepared near Clock Tower, opposite Master Tara Singh College near Mata Rani Chowk and on old Jail Road near Civil Hospital
