12 schools compete in debate contest

The ASISC regional-level debate competition for seniors (Category I) and juniors (Category II) was conducted at Sat Paul Mittal School today. As many as 12 schools participated in the debate competition.

The jury for Category I was Dinesh Kapila, national trainer from JCI India and Varinder Datta, faculty at the Ludhiana chapter of ICAI. For Category II, Balwinder Kaur Brar and Baishakhi Banerjee, assistant professors in English at Partap College of Education, Ludhiana.

In Category I, Mehak Bakhshi of Sat Paul Mittal School, Ludhiana, was adjudged the best speaker. Navya Aggarwal from The Frank Anthony Public School, Delhi, and Hemant Kumar from St Kabir School, Hissar, won the first and second runner-up trophy, respectively. Sat Paul Mittal School, Ludhiana, clinched the best team trophy in this category. In Category II, Divit Chopra of Scottish High International School, Gurgaon, was declared the best speaker. Manan from St Kabir School, Hissar, and Samreen Kaur from Sacred Heart Convent School, Amritsar, grabbed the bagged the first and second runner-up position, respectively. St Kabir School, Hissar, won the best team trophy in this category.

The winners will represent the region at the nationals.
