1,190 cartons of liquor seized

The police have recovered 1,190 cartons carrying 14,280 bottles of illicit liquor from a house here.

The SSP Khanna, NS Mahal, said a police party laid a naka at the Nasrali bus stand. An informer told the police that a huge quantity of illicit liquor had been stored in the house of Gurmel Singh at Hole village and another villager Kulwinder Singh was also involved in this illegal activity. The police party, led by Sadar Khanna SHO Venod Kumar and Issru chowki in-charge Balvir Singh, raided the house and seized a large quantity of illicit liquor covered with a tarpaulin.

The seizure included 1,156 cartons of countrymade liquor and 34 cartons of English liquor. The SSP said the two suspects escaped. A case under the Excise Act has been registerd agaist them.
