This is why Paresh Rawal played Sunil Dutt

Paresh Rawal who has been receiving immense appreciation for his portrayal of the late Sunil Dutt in Sanju reveals what exactly made him take up the role. Apart from the fact that the actor has always admired the senior Dutt, he reminisced about a letter that he had sent him. On May 25, 2005, he got Dutt’s letter wishing him on his birthday, which falls on May 30. The senior actor was surprised to receive it as it was the very day that Mr Dutt had passed away.

The letter was in Paresh’s possession all these years but he had forgotten about it. On January 3, 2017, when he was going to meet Rajkumar Hirani for the narration of Sanju, he asked his wife, Swaroop Sampat, to check for some documents in his drawer and that is when he found the letter. Paresh says, “It was found on the day Hirani narrated the role to me. It was like divine intervention.” Sanju, is in theatres currently and has been shattering records since its release.
