Many a girl would kill to have Dipannita Sharma’s figure. The former supermodel, whom we last remember seeing in Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, is quite honest about giving credit where it is due; as much her genes as her fitness regime. “Fitness is as much about feeling good as it is about looking good so keeping a healthy mind and being real is very important.”

Fitness to me means…

It means living a healthy lifestyle. It means overall wellness such as a good night’s sleep, eating what makes one happy and keeping good thoughts and good company are all an important part of fitness.

Morning rituals with Dipannita

On the days I wake up early, I have egg white omelet. Twice a week, I make it full eggs (either boiled or scrambled) with tomatoes, brown bread toast and black tea. Or, I have an aloo parantha (but with very little oil and no butter) with curd or just plain ketchup. Or, just cereal with milk followed by eggs.

Diet through the day

I don't always have a big lunch 'cause my first meal is quite heavy, so I stick to daal, vegetable and brown rice mostly, sometimes I have fish curry with rice.

As for dinner, there isn't much change in my lunch and dinner, except maybe an additional curry or a grilled chicken item.

Also, I don't stick to one kind of pattern. I like changing food groups for taste and also for various health benefits

On days that I'm not working, I wake up very late so I have a brunch which usually includes most items that I have for breakfast ... but I eat only as much as I feel like or want, I am not about the number of items I eat. I eat when I'm hungry and I don't if I'm not. As simple as that.

Like a child in a candy store!

Yes, I have a major sweet tooth. It is a weakness and I don't curb it too much. I believe in moderation so yes, I have my ice-creams, pastries, dark chocolate and Indian sweets, but maybe instead of a bowlful, I just have a little bit of everything.

Fitness fad called gyms

I am not at all a gym person. I find working out in the gym a little mechanical (I mean if I have to I will join a gym in the future until then I’ll take my genetics for granted) ... I also prefer a little outdoor activity to a gym. I like to go for a swim once in a while and go for a walk maybe thrice a week. I have practiced tai chi in the past too and am looking for a new outdoor fitness activity that would interest me.

Blunt and sincere fitness advice

Please don't go ballistic on some crazy diet plans. Just eat well and exercise regularly as per your body type. Try and understand what your body needs and what it doesn't. Try to gauge things like metabolic rate, genetics, family history of conditions etc. before you take any decisions on your health and body. Above all do not believe or follow everything that you read online blindly.
