The 48th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is scheduled to take place in Goa from November 20 – 28  this year. Soon after the I&B Ministry announced the list of films to be a part of the prestigious festival, the festival hit headlines but, for all wrong reasons. Reportedly, going against the wishes of jury members, Sanal Sasidharan’s Malayalam movie S Durga and Ravi Jadhav’s Marathi film Nude were dropped from the list.

And now IFFI jury member Sujoy Ghosh has resigned from the panel. Sujoy confirmed the news without giving any reasons behind his decision. Meanwhile, disappointed with this decision, Sasidharan whose S Durga was dropped, has already sent an email to the ministry asking for the reasons behind the “arbitrary removal of the film”.

Meanwhile, former Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari on Tuesday slammed the “interference” of the government in decisions on the 48th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
