DeepVeer wedding has become the centre of the universe, or should we say news world, for more than one reason! This star Jodi, which has concluded its nuptials in Konkani and Sindhi ceremonies, has kept their friends, fans and media on tenterhooks, thanks their no-photos policy. Two days, no news has spawned frenzy on social media with tags DeepikaWedsRanveer, DeepVeerKiShaadi and many memes!

While the common populace and the media are kept at an arm’s length, social media is working hard to get a glimpse of the newlywed couple. We dig out the reason and importance of this double ceremony wedding.

Dual marriage

“The couple has tied the knot in Konkani and Sindhi ceremonies under astrological guidance. There are doshas in kundalis, such as pitra dosha, bhakut dosha, nadi dosha and mangal dosha, that are rectified or the impact is nullified with two wedding ceremonies or double marriage. It was the same in Deepika and Ranveer’s kundali, they were advised to hold their pheras twice. They chose to do two ceremonies, which is equally good and in fact auspicious. It is written in the scriptures that in case of a love marriage, when the kundalis are not matched or if there is any dosha, dual marriage is the solution,” shares astrologer P Khurana.

He adds, “It is rather double commitment. The vows that are exchanged once are done twice in some cases and it adds to the strength of the promise. Many couples perform laanvan-phere when they complete 25 years of marriage to refresh their commitments.”

Nothing wrong

Another astrologer, Kajal Sharma, says, “Sometimes when the bride and the groom belong to different communities, they perform two ceremonies to please their families but there is an added advantage to it. If something, anything goes wrong the first time or goes amiss, the second ceremony takes care of it. There is nothing whatsoever wrong about double ceremony. It only has benefits.”

We wish them a happy ever after!
