Roti over risotto

Hypothetically speaking, if there’s one dish that Gurpreet Ghuggi had to survive on for 30 days, it would have to be paneer.

“You can get experimental with it and do so many things with it,” he reasons. An ‘eggetarian’ the Punjabi actor/ comedian talks practical and talks minimalistic, when it comes to his culinary preferences, “My favourite food is whatever is found in Punjabi kitchen.” Soon to be seen in the up and coming Lawaan Phere and the iconic Carry on Jatta 2, Gurpreet Ghuggi takes a pause from talking about films. All conversations lead to food. To begin with his favourite hang out place is Aura Vaseela.

What can Gurpreet Ghuggi rustle up for you? Well, not much of a cook, but just in case anybody paid a visit, he promises to not let you go away hungry from his house. “I can make a sandwich and scrambled eggs,” he laughs.

Favourite dish, cuisine and so on

It goes without saying that like any other pure Punjabi he loves makki di roti and sarson da saag, followed by gur. “But outside of Punjabi cuisine, I like continental and especially risotto, followed by pasta.”

Of childhood and food memories

It could be as simple as visiting an ice-cream parlour during summer vacations. Favourite food memories often date back to childhood. He laughs, “We are three brothers and all of us till date are fond of cream mixed with jaggery. During childhood, it would always be a fight for the creamy layer atop milk.”

In the mood for dessert

It’s Indian sweets basically for him. And yes, surprisingly (and refreshingly) chocolate doesn’t figure anywhere in his list of favourite foods. “I absolutely love jalebi, rabri and rasmalai.”

Spot him at these joints

If you ever see Gurpreet Ghuggi look alike at either Barbeque Nation or James Plaza, chances are that it’s him. “I love these two places for the food they serve. Ambience is also very important for me especially when I am looking at eating out. So, I also like Aura Vaseela.”

Watch what goes inside you!

It’s not about exotic, it is about hygiene, followed by nutrition. He opines, “What you are eating, how is it prepared, the ingredients that go in your dish. Quality of food is very important.”
