With Punjab becoming a hub not only for Bollywood shoots but also tele serials, it was actor Ali Khan who paid a quick visit to the state recently. Post the shoot, the actor made a brief stop at Chandigarh before heading to Mumbai, his chosen home.

Born in Bihar, back in time Ali moved to Mumbai to become a hero but as luck would have it, he shone in negative roles. You have seen him turn the bad guy in films like Sarfarosh, Khuda Gawah, Kohram, Indian and many more. Enjoying the pace of his journey, Ali took out a few minutes to share excerpts from his journey.

No regrets

I am originally from Bihar. Like many others, I too landed up in Mumbai to become a hero. It wasn’t easy without a godfather, but I got a break in a negative role and then it carried on. No regrets whatsoever. I am a self-made man and consider myself fortunate to be a part of the industry.

Committed soul

Mumbai’s been home for the past few decades. It attracts people from all around the globe for such is the appeal of our industry. I am also one of them. What I love about its people is that they value punctuality and commitment. I have also imbibed these traits after living here for this long now. So, today even though I was in a rush to catch the flight, I fulfilled my commitment and showed up at Tressed Up Academy in Manimajra, Chandigarh and interacted with the staff.

Punjab connection

We shot in Batala for the shoot of a serial Ab Gaon Ki Aur. I play a sarpanch in the soap that’s supposed to go on air next month. I will be in Punjab almost every month for its shoot.

In Big awe

Among the various roles that I have enacted, I particularly enjoyed my act in Sarfarosh and Khuda Gawah, playing Habibullah, in fact, Amitabh Bachchan remains my favourite co-star. The entire world is his fan and so am I. And I value him as a fine human being. Despite being such an acclaimed actor, one would never see him throwing around his weight on the sets.

Spiritual note

Currently, apart from the shoots, I am enjoying the month of Ramzan and keeping rozas. I truly pray for peace and prosperity for our country. Apart from this serial, you will see me in Dushman, a Punjabi film. Then, there is Maqsad Ek Mission, a Hindi film.
