This ‘Happy’ is on the run — not from her wedding, but for a promotional tour for the film — Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi. The film has been written and directed by Mudassar Aziz, and the man was in Chandigarh along with his lead stars — Sonakshi Sinha and Jassie Gill — on Friday.

To suit the occasion, the svelte Sonkashi wasn’t in her sports shoes this time, but in Punjabi jutti.  She loved Happy Bhag Jayegi and when Mudassar approached her with the sequel, there was no way she could have said no!

First take

Jassie debuts in Bollywood with this one. Now who gets to act opposite his favourite actress in the first movie itself? Looks like he is not the only fan! Mudassar Aziz has been following Sona too and admits, “I had to reach a certain level before I could approach her for a film.”

Touted as a complete entertainer, the sequel is based on mistaken identity and lands the story in China. “It was as difficult eating Chinese food as also speaking the lingo,” admits Jassie.

However, the singer seems to have a rub-on effect on Dabangg’s Rajjo, who has crooned Geeta Dutt’s famous song Mera Naam Chin Chin Choo, with a Punjabi twist, in the movie with him. And, they were only too happy to sing it out aloud!

The man behind the film was pleasantly surprised by the first outing and is enthralled by the response the sequel’s trailer has got. “We bet you will have double the fun in this one,” promises Sonakshi. Of course, she is joined by Jimmy Shergill and Diana Penty on the screen. The film hits the theatres on August 25.

Twin treat

Jassie Gill’s fans are in for a twin treat as the singer-actor’s two films — Mr and Mrs 420 Returns and Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi — release back to back. “Both are sequels and I request my fans to give them equal love.”

A true Punjaban

Has Sonakshi Sinha turned a wee bit more Punjabi in the company of Jassie? He says, “Doesn’t she look like a true Punjaban. Her khana peena, bolna chalna is all true-blue Punjabi. I ask her for any new Punjabi number and it’s already on her playlist!” Ask the Bollywood beauty about her favourite track byJassie  and she immediately says, “Guitar Sikhda.”

Word of praise

The director has some really encouraging words for Jassie, “I picked him from his song Nakhre, but over the shooting period I have found much of the unexplored potential that he gave a glimpse of. He is here to stay in Bollywood.”
