Her passion for acting stands guided by her romance for cinema. Chandigarh lass, Manni Boparai, takes every little opportunity that comes her way to explore her acting skills. While she talks to us about her up and coming Punjabi and Hindi films, Manni shares that she will also be seen in a television serial titled Kalash Ek Vishwaas. “I did not want to let go of the opportunity of acting in a television show as it is Ekta Kapoor’s show and I have much room to experiment with my character in this show,” she says. Talking about her role in the show, she shares, “I have always wanted to essay a negative role because it truly tests your acting skills. In this show I will be seen essaying the role of a sister-in-law.”

Manni, who has done several Punjabi films, including Lalkaaray Sheran De, Jatt Punjab Da, and Mr and Mrs 420 was also conferred with the title of Miss North India in 2005. “I have also done theatre and studied acting in Mumbai. However, it is a little different while acting in television,” she states.

Manni shares that the difference between acting in a film and in a television show is that of time the actors get to prepare.

“When acting in a film, actors are first given the script so that they can prepare for the role. However, in television, you can even receive a call at midnight asking you to prepare for the shoot,” she says.

So, did she have any inhibitions while taking up a television show? “Oh yes! I took more than two-and-a-half hours to sign a seven-year-long contract with Balaji Telefilms because I have already signed two Punjabi films,” replies the actor. Manni has also done a Hindi film titled Saavi and will be seen in Punjabi films, Jugni and Game of Love.
