“The ‘ghazal’ with articulation of emotions weaved in a suitable paradigm of words had been admired as the most loved literary phenomenon. It has both the charms of poetry, vocalism and rhythm,” observes young upcoming ghazal virtuoso and Bollywood musical sensation Jazim Sharma.  He feels truly blessed for the achievements galore in the short span of his musical career.

Born and raised at Bathinda, Jazim started learning classical music at the tender age of five and the process continued till his master’s degree in music from University of Mumbai. He won accolades from stalwart music judges and a contract to sing a qawwali song for the film, Dedh Ishqiya from Vishal Bardwaj.

He has been keeping busy by composing music for upcoming Bollywood tracks, ghazals and singing playback for several music composers. He has done solo albums Suno Tum with two ghazals of Nida Fazli. Jazim’s songs Chonch Ladiyaan and Grey Walaa Shade from film Manmarzian have stamped his versatility as a  playback singer. While the best from him is yet to come, Jazim has debuted as a music director with forthcoming movie Mr. Paanwala.

In city to release his new solo song, he shared his musical journey with us. When asked about his career and survival in ghazal singing, Jazim claims, “My aim is to popularise ghazal among the youth, to ensure its survival for centuries to come.  I devise my performances to carry along all. I believe my ghazal shows in 10 countries had been fully sold with youngster converging on all venues.” SD Sharma
