A housewife, a businessman, a student, a differently-abled person nothing really brings them together save for a few chosen mediums, different subjects and inspiration that flew in from the most unexpected corners. It could be the beauty of nature, irony of life or an endeavour to find escapism. In an upcoming display of works, Creative Karma Visual Art Exhibition 2019 brings together 48 artists from different parts of the Tricity. On display will be a total of 300 plus works.

While Ravinder Sharma is among the prominent names from the city whose works will be on display, others include Sunil Kumar, who lost both of his hands and arm in accident but not his passion or even potential for art. With the help of a kind-hearted social worker Sunil learnt to write and draw beautifully with his foot. Moving on, there’s city-based self-taught artist Moinaa Singh, a septuagenarian, who finds both solace and a sense of purpose in art. “My subjects range from portraiture, still life, religious themes, landscapes and animals, while the medium largely remains oils,” she shares of her second exhibition after the first solo show done way back in 1991 in Darjeeling.  As for the inspiration that could trickle in from anywhere. Another participant, Harmanpreet, pursuing Master’s in Fine Arts, is a different-abled and a budding talent from the region, who hopes to travel the world and express it in the form of his art.

Talk of passion and artist Surinder Shankar Anand, a software consultant by profession, started his   artistic escapades at the age of 3 when he used to draw on the cement floor using coloured medicine tablets. “I will be bringing some of the works from my latest series.”

On 14-15 December at Punjab Kala Bhawan-16 —TNS
