Amid an extremely tight security, the wedding ceremony of comedian Kapil Sharma and his Jalandhar-based girlfriend Bhavneet Chatrath aka Ginni remained a gala event at Cabbana Resorts near Jalandhar today.

Kapil’s sister Pooja Sharma reportedly performed his sehra bandi at Amritsar after which the baraat started this afternoon from Amritsar. Actors from Comedy Nights with Kapil - Sumona Chakravarti, Krushna Abhishek and Bharti Singh - reached the venue along the baraat this evening.

In Amritsar since the last two days attending Mata ki Chowki and sangeet last night, his comedy team actors gave a surprise performance at the wedding today.

The groom made a dramatic entry into the pandal from a 200-feet long tunnel dug up near pool side at the resort as his friends came dancing along. Among the guests who attended the wedding today were Bollywood director brothers Abbas and Mastan, who had directed Kapil Sharma-starrer movie Kis Kisko Pyar Karoon. Gurdas Maan’s performance on his latest song Shagnan di Mehndi was enjoyed by all the guests present.

Though it is an inter-religion wedlock with Ginni hailing from a Sikh family but marriage rituals were performed tonight as per Hindu tradition only.

Since the nearly 200 bouncers deployed at the function ensured strict entry by cards with barcodes only, many guests had to return disappointed. After the wedding ceremony today, the couple will host a reception in Amritsar on December 14 where Daler Mehndi will enthrall guests. Most cinestars are expected to attend Kapil’s reception in Mumbai later.
