It’s festival time and we can never get enough of sweets. Also, also we are looking for light stuff to appease our sweet tooth. This semolina cake qualifies as a very digestible, nutritious, and easy-to-make recipe. Besides, it looks attractive too.

SEMOLINA CAKE: The ingredients 

1 cup semolina

1 cup curd

1 cup water

1 tsp salt

1 tsp fruit salt

For tempering:

  • 2 tsps olive oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • ½ green capsicum (thinly sliced)
  • ½ yellow capsicum (thinly sliced)
  • ½ red capsicum (thinly sliced)
  • 10-15 curry leaves
  • 3-4 green chillies

Method

  • Take semolina in a bowl. Now add curd to it and mix well.
  • Keep it aside for 15-20 minutes.
  • Now add water to make a batter of pouring consistency.
  • Add fruit salt to the batter and pour it in a greased cake tin.
  • Now steam it for 10-15 minutes or until done.
  • Now transfer it to a serving dish.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and sauté.
  • Now add sliced capsicum and sauté for 1-2 minutes. 
  • Add curry leaves and green chilli and mix well.
  • Pour and spread it over the cake.
  • Cut into slices and serve with tomato ketchup or mint chutney.
