What kept you away from television for such a long time?

For the last few years, I have been completely immersed in my theatre work. Theatre is a second home for me. While I did receive ample offers for television shows during this time, there was not much that really caught my interest.

How did you come on board for Vikram Betaal Ki Rahasya Gaatha?

The show caught my attention instantly and it was a difficult offer to refuse considering that I have been a fan of their tales ever since childhood.

Do you think the new generation would connect with this show?

Indian audiences have always shown interest towards fantasy stories. The tales of Vikram and Betaal have been a childhood favourite for most of us!

What are the challenges of playing the role of an established character?

The challenges of playing an established character, especially a legendary one like Betaal, are that the audience and fans have a set picture of that character in their minds. So, my performance has to exceed their expectations.

How is working on television different from theatre?

Both are challenging in their own ways.

What are your future plans in theatre?

Theatre for me is a way of life and my 50 original plays best symbolise the same. The process will continue and I plan to create a script bank of mine for the next many years to come.
