Jamia Millia Islamia

Jamia Millia Islamia was established in 1920 and became a Central University in 1988. Today, it is an "A" grade Central University accredited by NAAC with a multi layered educational system which covers under-graduate and post-graduate education, as well as research programmes in natural sciences, social sciences, engineering & technology, education, humanities & languages, architecture, fine arts, law and dentistry. It also has a well known school of mass communication, the AJK Mass Communication Research Centre. 

Of interest to UG students 

• Jamia Millia offers several much sought after courses in the Social sciences, including BA (Hons) in economics, psychology, sociology, political science. 
• Those interested in geography may like to consider the BA/B Sc in geography, which can be followed by a PG Diploma in Remote Sensing and GIS application also offered at JMI, for a career with Google Maps, and GPS technologies.  
• For students interested in a career in teaching, the university offers programmes for school teachers — Bachelor of Education (BEd) as well as the BEd with the focus on Special Education and Nursery Education. 
• Another course of note is the Bachelor of Tourism and Travel Management (BTTM) for a career in the travel industry

Admission to various programmes is mostly on the basis of an entrance test(s) which in certain cases may be followed by other components such as interview etc. in accordance with the admission schedule.

Jamia Hamdard University

Jamia Hamdard was conceived as a seat of higher learning in Unani Medicine, Islamic Studies, Biosciences, Pharmacy, Nursing and other medical related fields of study. Over the past 10 years this university has emerged as an outstanding institution of higher learning with academic programmes which include not only those related to medicine and healthcare but also engineering, computer sciences, business studies, nursing and food technology. Graduate programmes in IT and computer applications and post-graduate programmes in IT, computer applications, business management, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy have been started in the past few years.
