The University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, is offering scholarships to new international students who will begin a full-time undergraduate course in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in September 2018. 

Subject: Physical activity for health, Politics, History, Modern languages, Speech and language therapy, Education, Law, English, Psychology, Social work and social policy.

Details: The award is a £3,000 scholarship per year for the duration of their degree. These awards are not renewable.

Number of scholarships: 20

Eligibility: International fee-paying students only. Applicants who are applying for a three/four year undergraduate degree course in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. This also includes two year Graduate entry students on the LLB course.

Deadline: August 29, 2018


James Dyson Award-2018

Dyson, a British technology company, is on the lookout for ingenious inventions for the James Dyson Award. This award gives students and graduates of both engineering and design a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to show to the world their unique methods of solving problems. This competition was launched in India last year for the first time and three entries from the nation made it to the top 20 worldwide. The top 20 last year had an entry from Asis Mohandas, creator of Maattam, who had the won the national competition in India. A total of 27 countries are competing this year for the top prize.

The 2018 edition has returned with a simple brief that states to design something that solves a problem. The winner this year will receive an amount of Rs 26,00,000 along with Rs 4,00,000 for the university that the winner is representing. The two runners up will receive an amount of Rs 4,00,000 each. The winner of the national competition will receive an amount of Rs. 1,70,000 and will represent India at the international level along with the four national runners up.

The last date for submitting one’s entry is at midnight GMT (5:30 AM IST) on July 20, 2018.
