Jalandhar, June 10

Yuvraj, a student of Cambridge International School here, has topped the district by bagging the 195th rank in the country in the JEE Advanced exam whose result was declared on Sunday.

Son of Sandeep Azad, a businessman, and Shweta Azad, a housewife, Yuvraj credited his parents and teachers for his success.

While he got 94.8 per cent in Class XII, Yuvraj believes remaining diligent is enough and it is not important to be excessively studious to crack the JEE exams.

“I merely studied for four to five hours in the busiest of times and also right ahead of the exam. Remaining regular usually does the trick. I was never the kind to dedicate 10 to 12 hours to studies,” Yuvraj said. Yuvraj said he always believed in his teachers. Now, he aims to make it to the IIT, Kanpur.

He said, “I was at first a bit disappointed with my results. I had been aiming for a rank within the top 50. But I was left behind by several marks. However, I am happy about the fact that I have bagged a rank decent enough to make it to a good institute. I was aiming for IIT Kanpur and am hoping I will make it.”

On his success mantra, he said, “Remain regular, but it’s important to relax a bit as well. In my free time, I listened to songs and indulged in social media networking to keep myself stress-free.”

An avid cricket fan, Yuvraj watched the entire IPL season during his exams.

Aditya Goyal

City boy Aditya Goyal has bagged the 1,541 rank in the country in the examination.

A student of Innocent Hearts School, (GMT), Aditya bagged 96 per cent marks in Class XII. Speaking to The Tribune, Aditya said, “My brother Mayank, who is pursuing computer science engineering from the PEC Chandigarh, was my prime inspiration. Mayank has been very supportive of me and has guided me constantly.” Son of Pardeep Goyal, an employee of the LIC, and Manju Goyal, housewife, Aditya was pursuing tuitions in physics, chemistry and mathematics.

Aditya said, “My mother and teachers had a major role to play in my preparations.”

While Aditya aspires to make it to IIT Kanpur or Roorkee, sharing his mantra he said, “I was never a book worm. My aim has always been to study hard and revise regularly.” While he frequently visited social media in his free time, Aditya aims to pursue engineering in one of the three streams – mechanical, electrical or computer.
