Seema Rani, a resident of Farala village, was run over by Pathankot-Delhi Express near the sugar mill rail crossing, here, today.
Government Railway Police (GRP) in-charge Gurbheij Singh said the deceased did not notice the train as she was talking on her mobile phone while crossing the railway lines.
A broken mobile phone was also recovered near the body of the deceased. The victim came to Phagwara to meet her parents, the GRP said.
The GRP have registered a case and sent the body to the Civil Hospital for the post-mortem examination.
35-year-old found dead
Phillaur: Sushila Rani (35), a resident of Uttar Pradesh, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a room of her house at nearby Saifabad village on Tuesday. Romesh, the husband of the deceased, was at large. The room was found locked from outside, the police said.
Neighbours opened the door and found the victim lying dead on the floor of the room. Sushila and Romesh were working at a private factory.
The police have registered a case and sent the body to the Civil Hospital, Phillaur, for autopsy. The police are investigating the matter. — OC
