JALANDHAR: The volleyball team of KMV Collegiate Senior Secondary School brought laurels to the institution by bagging the winners' trophy in the Inter School Zone East I. KMV get the best of Royal World School, Jalandhar, in the final by 25-2, 25-2. Principal Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the team on achieving the distinction. She appreciated the efforts of the department of physical education. TNS

Roller skating championship 

Jalandhar: The 18th District Roller Skating Championship was held at Police DAV Public School. As many as 200 skaters of Jalandhar and surrounding area participated in various events like Inline, quad, rink race and road race. Gautam Kapoor, MD, Radisson Hotel, graced the occasion as the chief guest. PK Uppal, Commandant, Training Centre, PAP, was the guest of honour at the opening ceremony. They were accorded a floral welcome by Principal Dr Rashmi Vij. Sukhmanjot Kaur presented a dance on skates. TNS  

Cyber security programme

Jalandhar: Edition 2 of Connect Net Champs — a programme that addresses Internet security among school students – kicked off its 14th session on cyber security at La Blossoms School, Jalandhar. The session included a thrilling quiz contest. Two candidates were shortlisted for the next round from the school. In an interactive session with the experts, children learnt various nuances of the Internet world. The potential risks related to Internet and how to avoid these, exposure to inappropriate material, harassment and bullying, physical molestation, legal and financial, viruses and hackers were discussed during the programme. Important guidelines were imparted on how children could avoid online risks, rules for online safety, and how to be a smart Internet user. TNS

Workshop on fashion makeover

Jalandhar: The post graduate department of fashion makeover of Apeejay College of Fine Arts organised a one-day workshop on professional makeover in which Rachna from Kryolan, Amritsar, featured as the resource person. She explained and demonstrated about the usage of the products and camouflage makeover techniques. She highlighted the techniques related to professional makeovers and basic make-up. Principal Dr Sucharita applauded the efforts of Meenal Sandhu, HoD for organising the workshop. TNS
