UP resident held with pistol

The Goraya police recovered a .315 bore pistol and five live cartridges from Nakul Parshad of Uttar Pradesh and arrested him on Saturday. Phillaur DSP Davinder Singh Attri said the suspect was nabbed at a checkpoint near Sargundhi village. A case has been registered.

Man ends his life

Kuldip Kumar of Lakhpur village, near here, reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself with the ceiling of his house on Friday night. Stress was said to be the cause behind the extreme step. The victim, who was a cook by profession, is survived by two children. The police have registered a case and sent the body to the Civil Hospital for autopsy.
