Sultanpur Lodhi, Sept 17

As a part of various ongoing projects being undertaken ahead of the 550th Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev, two new foot over-bidges have been installed across the Holy Bein here.

The bridges will be used for to and fro movement of the sangat for entering Gurdwara Ber Sahib from the sarowar side at the back end. These bridges will be open for devotees walking to the holy town to make a shortcut to the gurdwara and use the ghats of the Bein from the other side to take the dip.

“These have been erected in line with a similar set up at Hardwar and will look magnificent once lights are also put up,” said Sultanpur Lodhi MLA Navtej Cheema.

He said this would be used as the way for VVIPs on Gurpurb (November 12). The passage of other devotees from the main entrance would remain unhindered. After Union Minister Harsimrat Badal had on Saturday gone live on FB taking to broom to clean up the holy town, the local MLA and the administration too has chosen to start a cleanliness drive in Sultanpur Lodhi from 6 am tomorrow. — TNS
