In two separate incidents, two persons were killed with sharp-edged weapons here on Friday. In the first case, an addict son allegedly murdered his father, while in other case, a migrant labourer was killed.

In the Chella village of Block Mahilpur, 70-year-old Kashmir Singh was allegedly killed by his son Charanjit Singh. Kashmir had returned to his village two-years-ago from Dubai after 43 years.

His son, Charanjit Singh, had been sentenced to 10- year imprisonment in a drug case and had come out on bail sometime ago.

Deceased’s other son, Harjeet Singh, told the Mehtiana police that his brother Charanjit Singh was an addict.

His father used to ask him to give up addiction.

On Friday night, when he returned home at around 8 pm, he saw that his brother was sitting in a room, locking it from inside.

He had killed his father in the same room with a sharp-edged weapon and his father was lying in the room.

Police station Mehtiana was informed about the incident. The police arrested the accused. A case was registered against Charanjit.

In the second incident, the body of a migrant labourer Sukhpal (50), who was living in slums, outside Kahri village, was found near the government tubewell outside the village.

He had gone out from his house on Friday without telling anything, and was missing since then. His family was searching for him.

On Saturday they came to know that he was lying dead on the road near the tubewell.

He had sharp weapons wounds in his head.

The police have lodged an FIR against the unidentified persons and are investigating the matter.
