Two injured in group clash

Phagwara: Tension prevailed at Palahai village near here as two persons sustained injuries in a clash between two different groups on Saturday. The clashed occurred when some villagers objected to villager Mandeep Singh who was digging land behind a religious shrine. Unfortunately, cops busy in the elections reached the spot late. Activists of the Bahujan Samaj Party who rushed to the spot and sat on a dharna to demand the immediate arrest of the alleged accused involved in digging the land of the shrine. Ravi Pal, president of the Guru Ravi Dass managing committee, Palahai, told the police in his written complaint that the trouble arose when the accused was seen digging the land and collecting clay. Later, the police arrested the villager, Mandeep Singh, to pacify the villagers. TNS
