Two in police net with drugs

The police have arrested two persons after 100 kg of poppy husk and 1 kg of opium were recovered from them in separate incidents on Monday.

Phillaur DSP Davinder Singh Attri, said here on Tuesday that in the first case, the police have arrested Harpreet Singh, alias Gaggu, of Gumtali village, and recovered 100 kg of poppy husk kept in an Indigo car near Sutlej bridge.

The DSP said the police stopped a car coming from Ludhiana and recovered the poppy husk. Another accomplice of Gaggu, Tejinder Singh, fled the spot. The police have impounded their car.

In another incident, the police have arrested a drug peddler, Rahim-Mudin of Rajasthan, and recovered 1 kg of opium from him on Monday night. — OC
