Tree plantation week

State Public School celebrated a ‘Tree Plantation Week’ from July 15 to July 22. Students planted various types of saplings like neem, tulsi, jasmine and different types of ferns, gulmohar and many others in nearby areas.

State Public School celebrated a ‘Tree Plantation Week’ from July 15 to July 22.  Students planted various types of saplings like neem, tulsi, jasmine and different types of ferns, gulmohar and many others in nearby areas. The plantation was especially done at a gurdwara at Sansarpur village. The principal, in her address, laid emphasis on the importance of trees and plants. She encouraged students to plant a tree on their birthday. She motivated students while sharing that planting a sapling yields many benefits like — it recharged ground water, prevented soil erosion and made homes for many birds. The president of the school, Dr Narotam Singh, also appreciated the efforts made by students to save the mother earth.

Asia Open Championship

Panav Jalhan, a student of Shiv Jyoti Public School, (Class XI), participated in the India International Dance Congress 2017(IIDC) Asia Open Championship. The competition was held from July 6 to July 9, at Bangalore in different categories. Players from different countries participated in the event. Panav proved his mettle in solo semi-pro male category and won the competition. He had been selected for ‘World Level Dance Competition’ to be held in Singapore for the next level. This was his second consecutive win in the same competition. He owes his achievement to his dance teacher, Arshdeep Singh, his five-year practice and the support of teachers and parents. The managing committee, chairperson, Krishna Jyoti; general secretary, Varinder Sabharwal; Principal Dr Ravi Suta; vice-principal, Neeru Nayyar and the teachers of the school, congratulated him for his performance. 

Vanmahotsav festivity week

With the aim to promote awareness regarding the importance of trees in our lives, a ‘Vanmahotsav festivity week’ was held at Darshan Academy, Jalandhar. Students threw light on the importance of trees. They wrote eye-catching slogans and made captivating posters. Keeping in mind that trees were the kindest things that we grew, they made plantation with great enthusiasm. They also presented a role play, showing the vital role of trees in maintaining ecological balance. TNS
