Travel agent booked for fraud

PHAGWARA: On a complaint lodged by Joginder Singh of Lakhan-ke-Padde village, the police have registered a case under Sections 420, 406, 506 and 120-B of the IPC against a fake travel agent, Kanwaljit Singh, a resident of Jalandhar, on the charges of duping the complainant of Rs 4.65 lakh on the pretext of sending his three children to the UAE on work permit.

Man booked for abducting woman

Phagwara: On a complaint lodged by Ragwinder Singh, a resident of Daduwal village, the police have registered a case against Raman Kumar, a resident of the village, on the charges of abducting the daughter of the complainant on the pretext of marrying her. The woman, who is married, is missing since November 3. The police are investigating the matter. OC

One booked for burning stubble

Phagwara: On a complaint lodged by a farmer, Salinder Singh, a resident of Fatehgarh, the police have registered a case under Sections 188/435/427 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Air Prevention and Control of Pollution Act against a farmer, Kulwinder Singh of Pharala village, on the charge of burning paddy stubble in his fields. The fire spread to the complainant’s crops on three acres and destroyed the same. No arrest has been made so far. OC

Two held with illicit liquor

Phagwara: The police have arrested two persons, identified as Ashu and Jatinder, both residents of the Rattanpura locality, here, and seized six boxes of illicit liquor from their possession. A case under the Excise Act has been registered against the duo. OC
