Tourney for hockey, basketball, kabaddi held

JALANDHAR:The District Education Department today held U-14, U-17 and U-19 hockey, basketball and kabaddi tournaments in the district today.

The District Education Department today held U-14, U-17 and U-19 hockey, basketball and kabaddi tournaments in the district today.

While the basketball matches were played at IVY World School, Hoshiarpur Road, the kabaddi matches were played at Shaheed Baba Khushal Singh School,  Lambra. The hockey matches were played at Darshan Singh KP Stadium, Mithapur.

Results:

Cantonment School declared winner of U-17 in hockey tourney

Cantonment Board School lifted the U-17 trophy for boys, followed by Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) Mithapur, GSSS Tehang, clinched the third place, followed by Government High School Chanian.

Girls U-17 event: Doaba Khalsa Senior Secondary School and GSS School, Sarih, entered the finals that would be played tomorrow.

Apeejay School win U-14 basketball tournament 

In the basketball U-14 (girls) category: Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, won the first place, while SGL School, Adarsh Nagar, got the second place, followed by Doaba Khalsa Model School, Ladowali Road.

U-14 (boys) category: Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, was declared the winners, followed by Police DAV and MGN School, Adarsh Nagar.

Govt schools steal the show in kabaddi  

U-17 (boys) category: Government Secondary School, Chitti, remained first, while Government Secondary School, Baghela, clinched the second position. The third place was clinched by Police DAV School, followed by Government Secondary School, Talwandi Madho.

U-17 (Girls) category: GSSS, Talwandi Bharo, remained first, followed by GSSS Talwandi Madho. 

Jalandhar lift 63rd Punjab State Judo C’ship 

The 63rd Punjab State school games for U -17 (girls)  culminated at Government Boys Senior Secondary School, Ladowali Road.

44 kg category (girls): Patanpreet Kaur from Faridkot won the first place, Kamalpreet fromTarn Taran won the second place. Manpreet Kaur from Bathinda and Pravirti from Gurdaspur won the third place. Eesha Goel from Mansa and Taranjit from Patiala remained third.

63-kg category: Ginni from Jalandhar was declared the overall winners, while Amandeep from Mansa and Satinder from PIS, Mohali, won the second and third places respectively. Jaskeerat from Gurdaspur won the third place.

70-kg category: Manpreet Kaur of Tarn Taran remained first, followed by Gagandeep from Jalandhar.

+70-kg category: Arshpreet of Jalandhar lifts the overall trophy while Anjali from PIS, Mohali, won the second place. Harneet of Faridkot and Jeewanjot from Mansa remained third.

According to Coach Surinder Kumar, Jalandhar, with 16 points and four medals lifted the overall trophy, while PIS, Mohali, with 13 points got the second place. The third place was won by Patiala with 12 points.
