Jalandhar, January 13

Within a week of his joining the party, the Trinamool Congress today declared AAP founder member Tardeep Sunny as its candidate from the Jalandhar Central constituency. In the TMC’s first declaration of a candidate from Jalandhar in the party’s three lists which have so far been released, Sunny, who had been associated with the AAP since the IAC days, shall be giving a fight to party’s central candidate Dr Sanjeev Sharma.

While Sunny is one among those who termed they quit the AAP due to disillusionment, Sunny was also a member of the campaign committee of the AAP in 2014. He was recently appointed the Punjab State Youth Joint Secretary of the AAP. “Eighty per cent persons from Delhi will take over Punjab, only 10 to 15 per cent state leaders shall be retained in the AAP,” he claimed.

While Sunny has also been the district in-charge of the Jalandhar AAP team before the Delhi team came in, he is the first Jalandhar candidate to be named from the TMC. While various founder members had leaders of the AAP joining the TMC in the past fortnight – with the party taking in many AAP rebels and dissidents - many other AAP names from Doaba are also expected to figure in upcoming TMC lists.
