Three killed, 2 hurt as tractor hits 5 vehicles

Three persons were killed and two others were injured after a speeding tractor hit five vehicles here on Monday. The incident took place around 2 pm.

According to the onlookers, the tractor hit a scooty (PB-07M-2454) from the rear, and in a bid to flee, it hit a bike (PB-07M-9650). Instead of applying brakes, it kept on moving ahead at a high speed, hitting another tractor, a car and finally an Army gypsy parked on the roadside.

The deceased have been identified as Kabal Singh (60), a resident of Jalota; Balwant Singh (60), a resident of Nihalpur in Dasuya, and Avtar Singh (50), a resident of Dadial village.

Those who were injured in the accident have been admitted to the local Civil Hospital.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rajinder Sharma said the tipper driver, Narinder Singh, a resident of Hargobindpur, had been arrested.

The DSPadded that the medical examination of the accused was being conducted.
