Three hurt as school bus, Innova collide

JALANDHAR: There is a rise in accidents involving school buses. In a fresh incident, a school bus coming from the Phagwara side collided with a Toyota Innova vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

There is a rise in accidents involving school buses. In a fresh incident, a school bus coming from the Phagwara side collided with a Toyota Innova vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

Eye witnesses alleged that the school bus driver was at fault as he was driving at a high speed.

Around 7.30 am today, a bus of Delhi Public School was coming from Phagwara to drop children to the school in the Cantt road area.

Meanwhile, when it reached near Paragpur, it got collided with the Innova.

The driver of the SUV sustained injuries and fractures on his legs. He was rushed to a hospital by some local residents. Two students, who were travelling in the bus, also received minor injuries.

Investigation officer ASI Kuldeep Singh said both vehicles were coming from the opposite direction. Balkar Singh, vehicle of Innova, was going to his home after dropping his ward in the school.

The injured were under treatment and statements could be recorded later. However, statement of the school authorities and the bus driver had not been recorded. The driver was still unidentified, the ASI said.
