Phagwara, January 1

Thick fog engulfed the entire region this morning, paralysing the normal life.

The visibility was reported to be less than 50 metres.

Road and railway services were affected due to the fog.

All main and link roads were under the blanket of thick fog and hundred of vehicles were seen plying at a slow pace, with head lights on.

Most of the trains were running one to seven hours behind schedule.

The Railway authorities have set up ‘fog signal posts’ at the railway stations to ensure smooth plying of trains.

Railway employees busted crackers on railway lines to give clearance signal to train drivers.

The morning walkers also had a tough time.

Several accidents were also reported on different roads, including national highway, due to the poor visibility, but no casualty was reported.
