Teachers seek regularisation of jobs

Teachers of the Shaheed Kiranjit Kaur Education Guarantee Scheme (EGS), Alternative and Innovative Educators (AIE) and Special Trainers (STR) will hold a protest on January 26.

The teachers said they had been demanding the regularisation of jobs for long, but to no avail.

Harpreet Kaur, the district president of the union, said they would hold a meeting today to decide the future course of action.

“We have suffered a lot and now we cannot take it further, so we have planned a protest on January 26,” said Kaur.

There are as many as 7,813 teachers of the union.

The teachers are getting an amount of Rs 5,000 per month.
