Stray bull kills elderly farmer in village

HOSHIARPUR: In Dholanwal village, near here, a stray bull killed an elderly farmer, Paramjit (64), a local resident, on Saturday morning when he had gone to his farm.

In Dholanwal village, near here, a stray bull killed an elderly farmer, Paramjit (64), a local resident, on Saturday morning when he had gone to his farm.

Joginder Singh, another resident of the village, saw Paramjit lying on the ground while the bull was standing near him.

He said villagers, family members and relatives of the victim reached there and tried to shoo away the bull but it did not move from the place. It also did not let people come near Paramjit to pick him up. Later, the residents encircled the bull with the help of tractors and it took them two hours to control the animal. It was only after that Paramjit could be picked up from the spot due to which he succumbed to his injuries. Later, police was informed.

The victim is survived by five sons and two daughters, besides his wife. His two sons are in Dubai and after the arrival of his sons, the funeral cermony will be held.

As per residents of the village, the stray bulls roaming around are causing trouble for people, especially for women, elderly and children.

Seeing any eatables in hands of passers-by, they start chasing them and either the person has to give it to them or get hit. The bull has also injured many persons in the past.
