Jalandhar, December 11

The Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) meeting of the Municipal Corporation has been scheduled for December 14.

Since the problem of increasing stray animals has been troubling residents for long, the proposal regarding their shifting from the city to other areas will be tabled in the meeting.

Recently, Mayor Jagdish Raja had paid a visit to Faridkot to check a cowshed. In the proposal, it is said that the stray animals must be transferred to cowsheds that are operated in Shahkot and Faridkot.

In the proposal, it is also mentioned that the officials at the Faridkot cowshed have permitted the transfer of 1,500 animals there.

“A sum of Rs 32 per animal will be spent in the process,” the proposal reads.

Besides, the agenda regarding the installation of 30-watt LED bulbs in all 80 wards will also be discussed in the meeting for which an estimated cost of Rs 46,67,000 has been given.

During the Zero Hour session in the previous General House meeting, Deputy Mayor Harsimranjit Singh Bunty had said during Diwali, it has remained a ritual that every councillor was given 20 LED lights to install in his or her ward.

The e-tendering process for the project, for which three bidders had already approached, will start after the meeting.

In the 19-point agenda of the F&CC meeting that has been released, other proposals include installation of tube wells worth crores, along with various renovation works, in the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation.

The members who will be attending the meeting are Senior Deputy Mayor Surinder Kaur, Deputy Mayor Harsimranjit Singh Bunty and councillors Gian Chand and Guriwinderpal Singh Bunty Nilkanth.
