Jalandhar: Inner Wheel Club, Jalandhar, on Thursday distributed notebooks and stationery items were distributed among students of NCLP School. Sports equipment were provided to Deaf and Dumb School. Toiletries, thermals, socks and caps were given to students of Prayas School. Besides, embroidery threads and kits were provided to inmates of Nari Niketan. Special children of Prayas School gave a spectacular dance performance on the occasion. It was decided that a hug tree movement would be initiated to spread the message of saving trees. TNS

House of NRI burgled

Phagwara: The house of Davinder Singh, a UAE-based NRI,  was reportedly burgled in Green Valley here on Wednesday night. Sukhwinder Singh, cousin of the house owner, said burglars entered the house and ransacked it. They broke doors and took away household items, including three LEDs and imported kitchen appliances, worth over Rs 3 lakh. Dog squads and finger print experts have been summoned to the spot to get any clue about the crime. CCTVs of nearby areas are also being checked to identify the miscreants. A case has been registered by the police. oc

Three booked on abduction charge

Phagwara: On a complaint filed  by Mangal Sein, a resident of  Hadiabad (Phagwara), the police have registered a case under Sections 363, 366 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code against Manpreet, of Fattudhinga, his sister Mamta and her husband Lakhwinder Singh, both residents of Hadiabad, on the charge of abducting the daughter of the complainant on the pretext of marrying her with Manpreet. The victim alleged that the main accused, Manpreet, committed the crime with the connivance of his sister and brother-in law. No arrest has been made
