The power supply of Sewa Kendra at the District Administrative Complex was allegedly cut this afternoon. Employees of the Sewa Kendra, which is being run by a private company, claimed that the power supply had got cut but the public did not suffer because the generators were on. The authorities, however, denied any discontinuation of power supply.

An employee from Sewa Kendra said officials of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) had visited the Kendra two days ago and had asked he authorities to pay bills failing which, officials said, the power connection would be cut.

PSPCL sub-divisional officer Gagandeep Rekhi denied any power cut in the Kendra today. He instead said, “The company that is running the Kendra has not paid the electricity bill for the last two months. It amounts to 1.5 lakh. We had just warned them verbally as we wanted them to realise that if they don’t pay bills, the electricity would be cut.” The power supply was restored in the Kendra nearly after an hour, the employees said.
