Jalandhar: Rotary Club, Jalandhar (West), organised a singing competition on Thursday at a local hotel. Around 24 children from different schools and colleges participated in the event. Jagdish Raja, Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar, was the chief guest on the occasion. Surjit Singh Ajimal, a patron with Harivallabh Sangeet Sammelan and Rakesh Jhanji, member of Madan Mohan Yaadgar Forum, were the judges of the event. Ramanveer Singh of GNDU College stood first, Pallavi of St Soldier School clinched the second position while Daman of Cantt Boad School, remained third in the competition. Other participants were given mementoes. TNS  

Seminar on competitive exams 

Jalandhar: The Post Graduate Department of Commerce and Management of PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar, organised a seminar on ‘Guidance and Caereer Counselling for Competitive Exams’. Amandeep Singh and Vishal Sharma were the resource persons on the occasion.  Amandeep apprised students of various competitive exams being conducted at SSC, bank, and state and central-level.  Feedback forms were distributed among the students.  Workshop on Zumba dance

Jalandhar: The Department of Dance of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, organised a one-day workshop on Zumba dance. Around 60 students participated in the event. Nidhi Beri, an alumnus of the college, was the resource person on the occasion. Zumba is a mixture of four different dance forms. Principal Dr Sucharita lauded the efforts of the department for the successfully conducting the worhshop. tns

Language awareness contest 

Phagwara: The Department of English of Guru Nanak College, Sukhchainana Sahib, Phagwara, organised a language awareness competition. The motive behind organising the event was to encourage students to improve  communication skills. Shubkarman Kaur, Sachin Bansal, and Nitin Bhatia, stood first, second and third respectively. Pankaj Jain and Monica won the consolation prizes. Principal Dr Gurdev Singh Randhawa, and Jatinderpal Singh Palahi, president, college managing 

committee, congratulated the winners and the department for organising the event. OC
