Even as Akali leader and singer KS Makhan could not launch his movie “Jugni hath kise na auni” in which he was a co-star with druglord Jagdish Bhola, his other movie “Kirdar-e-Sardar” is set to be released tomorrow.

Just three weeks before the Nakodar-based singer’s movie was to be released around mid-February, the Enforcement Directorate had summoned him and film producer Jagseer Sidhu in the case. They had to appear before Deputy Director Niranjan Singh in the matter and the probe remains still on owing to which the release of the movie remained stalled.

The ED office has been probing details of his income and assets, and financial links with Bhola to verify any suspected violation of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The ED officials have been suspecting that the drug money could have been used in the film too, which was shot before the arrest of Bhola more than three years ago.

His new Punjabi flick “Kirdar-E-Sardar”, the posters of which can be seen all across the city, is termed to be a blend of action, emotions, drama and some religious aspects. The movie has shots from Jalandhar, besides other locations, including Amritsar, Beas, Jagraon, Shimla, Chandigarh and Chail.

Directed by Jatinder Singh Jeetu, the star cast of the film includes Nav Bajwa, Neha Pawar, Raza Murad, Dolly Bindra, Rana Jung Bahadur, Gurpreet Kaur Chadha, Barinder Dhapai, Suvidha Dhuggal, Mahabir Bhullar, Tehalpreet Singh, Raj Hundal, Harpreet Singh Khehra, Jaswant Singh Jass and Amrik Randhawa.

The star cast of the film was recently in the city, but Makhan was not a part as he was slated to be in Canada these days. The lead actor Nav Bajwa has said that the story is an action drama and will be giving a social message to the audience. Lead actress Neha Pawar said, “We can’t reveal much about the story at the moment, but the film is surely going to make a mark in the Punjabi cinema. I believe film-making is the greatest art and there is an unlimited scope of experiment and innovation”.

The film has five songs and a long list of singers, including Nachattar Gill, Nooran Sisters, Harshdeep Kaur, Lehmber Hussainpuri, Gurlez Akhtar and Abhishek.
