Garhdiwala (Hoshiarpur), December 11

A foetus was recovered from a garbage dump near the branch of HDFC Bank here.

The post-mortem examination was conducted at the Hoshiarpur Civil Hospital, which revealed that it was a seven-month-old female foetus and the abortion would have been conducted by a non-experienced person.

According to the police, it is suspected that the abortion would have been done after the pre-natal sex determination test.

Councillor of Ward No. 3 Gurdeep Singh said someone had thrown the foetus in the garbage dump opposite Truck Union. In the morning, when some shopkeepers went to the dump to throw garbage, they spotted the foetus. The former informed the councillor about the matter, who further informed the police.

After receiving the information, SHO Jaskanwal Singh Sahota, along with a police team, reached the spot and sent the foetus to the hospital for the post-mortem examination. After the arrival of the autopsy report, the police have registered a case against unknown person(s) under Section 318 of the Indian Penal Code.
