Seechewal inaugurates Punjabi school in Philippines

Following the inauguration of a Punjabi school in Panki city of the Philippines, noted environmentalist Balbir Singh Seechewal has inaugurated yet another Punjabi school in Cebu Island of the Philippines.

During a visit to the Philippines, Seechewal inspired his followers to open a Punjabi school so that the children of the immigrants can stay connected to their mother tongue. After the inauguration of the Punjabi school, Seechewal said to become a follower of the Guru Granth Sahib, it is important to learn the Punjabi language.

Seechewal appealed to the Punjabis married to Filippino women to motivate their wives to learn the Punjabi language. If the woman of a family is educated, then the whole family becomes educated, he said.
For the first time, within a week, two Punjabi schools have been started in the Philippines. Punjabis living in other cities of the Philippines also appealed to Seechewal to visit them and inspire the Punjabis living there to open a Punjabi school .

Kulwinder Singh Bassi, president of the Gurudwara Managing Committee in Cebu City, thanked environmentalist Seechewal. He said with the efforts of Seechewal, gurudwaras and Punjabi schools are being constructed in the Philippines. Cebu Island has a large concentration of the Punjabi community and lack of Punjabi school is a major problem.
Seechewal was among the personalities honoured by the gurudwara management.
