A scuffle broke out between two teachers at Government Senior Secondary School, Ajjowal, here today. Jasveer Singh, a Punjabi teacher, and Ranjeet Singh, en economics teacher, exchanged heated arguments and later, their arguments turned into a scuffle.

Forgetting the decorum of an educational institution, the teachers reportedly abused each other. Students and their colleagues were stunned to see their behaviour.

The school principal and other staff members tried to pacify them but they didn’t stop. After quite a while, the staff were able to pacify them.

Jasveer Singh said, “I have filed a complaint with the principal in this regard. There is a WhatsApp group and in which seven to eight persons are added. They were spoiling the environment of the school and they harass those working for the betterment of the school. On Wednesday, I was conveying an order of the principal. As per the order, some teachers of the school had to go to Bhagowal to attend the EDUSAT training. Ranjit Singh reportedly started staring at me and abused me. When I objected, he started fighting with me.”

Ranjeet Singh said, “Due to hooliganism of Jasveer Singh, many teachers have got themselves transferred from the school. Because of his political approach, all officers were supporting him and no action was taken against him ever. On Wednesday, Jasveer hurled a brick at me. The whole staff and principal saw the incident.”

He added that a complaint against Jasveer Singh was lodged with the principal.

School principal Charan Singh said whatever happened in the school was quite embarrassing and he felt sorry for the incident.

He said a report regarding the incident would be sent to higher officials. Action would be taken as per the instructions of the higher officers, he added.
