Run over by SUV, two-year-old dies

Jalandhar, November 12

A two-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries at Surya Enclave residential society here today after she was crushed under the wheels of a four-wheeler.

The deceased, Rashi, daughter of a migrant labour, was reportedly playing when she was run over by a Ford Endeavour vehicle (bearing registration number PB08-CU-4008). In his statement, the driver of the vehicle told the police that he was taking a reverse turn when the girl came under its rear tyres.

The incident was reported around 9.30 am. The police reached the spot around 12 pm. Investigating Officer ASI Barjinder Singh said the father of the deceased, Parmeesh Kumar, told them that he had reached a compromise over the matter with the owner of the car.

Eyewitnesses alleged that vehicle owner Ashok Jain settled the case by paying Rs30,000 to victim’s family. No case was registered in the matter. — TNS
