Robbery case solved with arrest of four

The city police have arrested all four robbers, who looted Rs 2.13 lakh from a local clerk at Maqsudan sabji mandi on September 10.

The four accused belong to Kapurthala and Jalandhar districts. The police also recovered Rs 1.7 lakh, a Pulsar motorcycle (bearing registration No. PB-09-AC-8958) and a Hero Splendor motorcycle (bearing registration No. PB-08-AC-8593) from the accused — Rahul Katyal, alias Sabbi, Paramjit Singh, alias Laddi, Mangat Khan and Satwinder Singh.

ADCP Parminder Singh Bhandal and ACP North Navneet Mahal while apprising mediapersons said the accused were also addicted of drugs and 0.50 gm of heroin was retrieved from them.

A case under Sections 379-B and 34 of the IPC was registered at the Division 1 police station against the accused. In addition, the accused were also booked under Sections 22/61/85 of the NDPS Act.

SHO Navdeep Singh said with a joint investigation team, the special operation cell of the police station solved the case by applying scientific measures. The accused were held from the Patel Chowk and Sabji Mandi areas.

The incident captured in a CCTV camera installed in the spot also helped in nabbing the accused, said the SHO.

Further probe revealed that the accused were also involved in the six snatching incidents that occurred recently in the city, including the Tagore Park incident in which a gold jewellery were taken away from an elderly couple.
