Reply to notice sent three days ago: MP to Sehgal

MP Santokh Chaudhary today met councillor Rohan Sehgal and asked him to reply to the notice that was sent to him three days ago, after he had claimed to resign from his post.

The MP said Sehgal would have to give reply to the notice. “I had a meeting with the councillor and the decision will be taken after his reply,” said Chaudhary.

According to sources the MP asked Sehgal that he should have a word with him first. If he had any problem with the party. As per the information, the Congress leader Sunil Jakhar also asked the MP to sort out the matter at local level.

Rohan Sehgal said after meeting with the MP he had not received the notice.

“I will answer once I see the notice. But the MP said this would be sorted out in the morning,” he said.

Sehgal, who got elected for the first time in 2017, is a councillor from Ward No 26.

In his resignation, Sehgal had written that he always wanted to work for society and when he become the councillor, he thought that he had got a magic band and the road ahead would be easy.

“But the first shock I got was when I allotted 13 safai sewaks for my ward which has 19 big mohallas and eight posh markets. I should have got 23 sanitation workers but instead I was asked to have patience,” he had written in the resignation.

Sehgal had earlier said he waited for long. For the past two months, there was no supervisor in his ward. Sehgal had raised many issues related to the corporation.

He had talked about LED lights scam too. Under the LED light project, worth Rs 274 crore, 65,000 old sodium street lights were to be replaced with the LED lights.

The Congress councillor had alleged that the company had been installing substandard lights at double the rates as compared to the infrastructure installed in Ludhiana.

Besides, he had raised issues in other areas too.

He said: “While going from the Johal Market towards the Urban Estate light point, a plot near Satkartar Nagar has become a garbage dump and the MC is unable to lift garbage due to various issues, which I am trying to resolve,” Another problem was the presence of a slum area in a posh locality near the PPR Mall.

The councillor several times in the past had raised that there were 18 localities in his ward but there were only 13 sanitation workers, due to which they face many issues.

Sehgal said: “Despite lodging various complaints with office-bearers concerned, I fought for over a year, but to no avail. He can not take anymore and hence, resigned from the post. — TNS
